Who we are
A bit about us - our training, experience and the way we approach therapy
Barry Sugg and Peter Finch
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, psychotherapist and family therapist with BACP Senior Accredited and UKCP accredited status. With previous long experience as a social worker and social work manager, I qualified in Humanistic Counselling at Brighton University (2000) and I have further qualifications in couples counselling and family therapy, gained with Relate and the Institute of Family Therapy. I also hold a Diploma in Supervision. I have worked successfully with a wide range of problems and difficulties, using individual, couples and family therapy. I am happy to work with most issues but have particular experience with couples/relationships, issues related to sexual identity and with people who identify as LGBTQI, bereavement and spirituality. Besides long experience of private practice, I have worked for Relate, Terrence Higgins Trust and St Joseph's Hospice, Hackney.
I am an experienced BACP registered counsellor with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Counselling (2003) and have additional qualifications in art therapy, group therapy and couples’ therapy. I have a wide experience of therapeutic work having worked for Mind Out, Mind, The Alzheimer's Society, The Terrence Higgins Trust, Switchboard Counselling Project, Mankind and St Peter and James Hospice. I have worked extensively with people experiencing a range of personal issues, individually, as couples and with groups. The majority of my work has focused on sexual health & HIV; sexuality and gender identity; mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, addiction and PTSD; supporting spiritual health and bereavement; long term physical and mental health difficulties; and working with those who identify as LGBTQI.
